Dogs are a Man’s Best Friend

This month we are celebrating National Pet Month, along with National Pet & Foster Care Month. Obviously, we think dogs are the best pet to have (we’re just a tad biased), and since we all have a little bit of extra time on our hands right now, it’s the PERFECT time to add a 4-legged member to your family; either permanently or as a foster.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Dogs are a Man’s Best Friend” and they truly do live up to their title. Here are a few reasons why if you don’t have a pet and are thinking about getting one, you should consider getting a dog:).

1.For starters, dogs are great company and can help with loneliness as well as reduce your stress levels.

2. Dogs can keep you active and healthier since your dog will need to be walked in order to make sure they are active and healthy. It’s a win-win situation all the way around!

3. The biggest reason why you should choose to get a dog is simple. Dogs. Make. You. Happier. It has been scientifically proven that dogs boost happiness and your self-esteem. Self-esteem is a real issue that lots of people struggle with daily, so why not make it better by adding a fluffy, wet kissing, loyal addition to help?!

The other topic this month is all about foster care in animals. According to the World Health Organization, there are over 200 million homeless/stray dogs worldwide. That is a lot of cuteness needing some love, so why not help fix that number by fostering a dog until they can get a FUR-ever home? You may be asking, what exactly is fostering? It’s actually really pretty simple. Fostering is when you have a dog live with you until they are adopted and go to a home they will hopefully live in forever. Fostering helps keep dogs from being homeless or going to a kill shelter. This also helps dogs that are shy or anxious become more social, which betters their chances of getting adopted. Lots of people who foster dogs often work full time jobs, so it doesn’t matter how busy your work schedule may be, you can still help out a furry friend in need. Dogs make us better people, so take the time to give back and help better a dog’s life!
